Pete's relationship with his wife is somewhat ambiguous and he appears reluctant to discuss their marriage. Nevertheless, he gets romantically involved with a woman called Meg and with his Oceanside Wellness Center colleague Violet with whom he will have a so called Lucas.
When Pete finds that Violet slept with Addison 's father, he becomes upset due to her infidelity. Later on Pete decides to forgive a doubtful Violet. After that Pete and Addison takes their relationship further, becoming a real couple. They pursued this even after Violet had returned and was ready for a real relationship with Pete and Lucas. She is the best friend of Addison and was married to the practice's internalist Sam (Taye Diggs), with whom she has a daughter.
Dr. Cooper Freedman is a pediatrician at the Oceanview Wellness Center , played by actor Paul Adelstein. Robert Bianco for USA Today has opined Violet (portrayed by Amy Brenneman) is the most intriguing of the show's supporting ensemble, both as an actor and a character. Though she tells her patients that happiness can be attained with focus, she fails to find any happiness in her own life. She has a failed relationship wit her boy friend Allan, Sheldon and her husband Pete with whom she has a son. Violet are good friends with Cooper, and often acts as savior in getting him out of awkward situations while dating women.
